Sugar Pine Health is a functional medicine practice started to help you become healthier and happier. It was developed from a desire to help patients actually achieve health, rather than pile on more medications and more appointments. We do this by spending more time with you, ordering more advanced labs that are chosen specifically for you, not dictated by your insurance and creating a personalized plan that includes all aspects of your life. You may have heard that functional medicine is all about getting to the root of disease and this is true. If we can find the root cause of your symptoms, isn’t it better to treat that than just put a “band-aid” on your symptoms? Along the way, you will learn a lot about yourself and your health and we hope to empower you to take charge of your health. Changing your health can be a long journey and won’t happen overnight but that’s why we are here to help you along the way.

Our Story

Meet Dr. Hartman
family and functional medicine trained

Hi, I’m Amanda Hartman. I grew up seeing an absolute gem of a family physician who was practicing functional medicine before it was even a concept. He was an MD like me, a traditional western medicine physician, but also had training in acupuncture, homeopathy, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. He inspired me to go to medical school. Once there, I was in for a rude awakening as I realized that most physicians in the US don’t practice like he did. I made it my mission to learn to practice medicine as he did. I have many hours of training in functional medicine and am always learning more. I received my training through the Institute for Functional Medicine.

When I’m not working, I enjoy being outside. I’m learning to garden, I love hiking and camping in the summer and being on the lake. I also love roadtrips and exploring new places and cooking. My partner and I are enjoying getting to know our new cat rescue Macey.
